Interdisciplinary Explorations of China’s Changing Gender Dynamics, 1900-2015

The Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation lecture series 'Interdisciplinary Explorations of China’s Changing Gender Dynamics, 1900-2015' organised by Daria Berg (University of St.Gallen) and Harriet Zurndorfer (Leiden University, The Netherlands), was held at the University of St.Gallen and Leiden University.

Aim

The goal of this lecture series was two-fold: first, to demonstrate the latest achievements in the field of Chinese women and gender studies in Europe; and second, to stimulate further interest in this field of China studies among students and scholars in other disciplines. China’s position now as a global power attracts ever more attention both inside and outside the academy, and thus these lectures will be of relevance to all those wanting to know more about how “China works”, and in particular how the roles of men and women are relevant to our understanding of the country.
