This research project investigates the artistic practices under the current Chinese president Xi Jinping since 2012. We selected five aspects that are unique to China under Xi Jinping and the increasing global role of China: 1) the Chinese Dream, 2) the Belt and Road Initiative, 3) surveillance, 4) covid-19 and 5) folk culture

THE IMPACT OF COVID-19

This MA course taught by Prof. Cozzi and Prof. Berg analyses the impact of Covid‑19 on Chinaʹs media and society, with particular reference to digital innovation. The economic and social media effects of Covid-19 in an increasingly authoritarian regime will be examined from the unique interdisciplinary platform of macroeconomics and Chinese studies.
