Daria Berg, D.Phil. Oxon (1995) in Chinese Studies, University of Oxford, is Chair Professor (Ordinaria) of Chinese Culture and Society at the University of St.Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, and Head of the Centre for Intercultural Competence at the St. Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG) in Singapore. Professor Berg studied Sinology (Chinese Studies) with Japanese Studies and English Literature at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Fudan University Shanghai, Fu-Jen University Taipei, and the Universities of Oxford, Tokyo and Kyoto and received her Doctorate in Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford in 1995. She has published extensively on Chinese literature, popular culture and cultural history in Ming and Qing Dynasty China and contemporary China.

Selected publications

Prof. Berg has published and edited an extensive number of books, book chapters, articles, media and reviews. Currently, she is working on her single authored volume The Man Who Invented China
